Originally, the Inn on Lake Granbury bed and breakfast in North Texas was known as the “Doyle House,” built by Dr. John Doyle, a Civil War Confederate surgeon, in 1880. He and his brother, James, settled with their families in Granbury after the war and became prominent citizens in town. Over the years, the property has changed hands numerous times and undergone several renovations. In the 1990’s, the historic “Doyle House” was owned by the Griffin family and then operated as a hosted bed and breakfast.
We purchased the lakefront property in October 2003. In keeping with our goal of owning and operating a Texas Hill Country style B&B inn, we decided to renovate and restore the main house, carriage house and poolhouse, and started the project in May 2004. Our intent in renovating the property was to enhance its character while adding modern touches and upscale amenities.
In doing so, we sought to create a unique bed and breakfast inn experience. In addition to offering luxurious guestrooms, our guests can enjoy the salt pool with waterfall and tanning ledge, relax on the swing under large live oak trees that overlook the lake, or take a leisurely walk along our crushed granite pathways to water's edge.
We are also proud of our affiliations with these bed and breakfast associations. We are members of Select Registry, the Professional Association of Innkeepers International PAII, the Great Stays of Texas or the Historic Accommodations of Texas, and the Granbury Area Bed and Breakfast Association (GABB). These associations help us network with other B&Bs and provide numerous opportunities to grow as innkeepers and to better serve our guests.
