A midweek getaway is perfect for relaxing with your partner. You can spend dedicated time together doing fun and memorable things. A lot of attractions and restaurants aren’t busy on weekdays. We’ve put together this midweek 3-day itinerary to Lake Granbury, TX, as a guide.
Day 1 | Arrival and Outdoor Adventures
Check into your room, suite, or house at the Inn on Lake Granbury. The casual elegance is evident in the fine bed linens, bathroom amenities, and luxurious touches. Once you have settled in, it’s time to explore! We recommend you bring a water bottle, extra snacks, sunscreen, and clothing layers for outdoor activities. Wear your best walking or hiking shoes.
It’s Time to Head Outdoors
Before leaving the Inn for the day, consider purchasing and packing the indulgent extra “Picnic in a Basket for Two” for lunch. You’ll receive chef’s choice sandwiches, a side salad, fruit, cheese, crackers, sparkling lemonade, and dessert! Perfect for bringing with you and enjoying after a hike.
Start the day’s adventures off at Dinosaur Valley State Park. Pick from any one of the trails in the park. You can make your hike longer by combining trails to make a bigger loop or keep it short by sticking to one path. View authentic dinosaur footprints and natural wooded beauty. After you have worked up an appetite, it’s time to indulge in the picnic basket lunch. The picnic area is located right next to the Paluxy River. You might find this facility map helpful in finding restrooms and the picnic area within the park. Since it’s mid-week, the picnic area should be less crowded than on a typical weekend—ideal for a memorable outdoor dining experience.
An Afternoon to Sip and Savor
Nothing hits the spot quite like after-lunch wine tasting. Head on over to Barons Creek Vineyards. Their Granbury tasting room is located in a beautifully restored historic building in the downtown area. First-timers can experience a flight of wines to taste all their offerings. Visitors may also order a charcuterie board and wine by the glass or bottle. Don’t miss out on the upstairs art gallery. It’s a stop that hits all the senses.
Come back to the Inn to get refreshed before going out to dinner. We have some restaurant recommendations for you that feature various cuisine options. There is something for every palette. After dinner, relax and spend some quality time with your partner. Cozy up next to a fireplace or soak in a jetted tub.
Day 2 | Admire the Arts
Depending on where you are staying at the Inn, you can have your breakfast delivered or eat in the common dining area, under the covered porch, or by the poolside (weather permitting).
Today is about admiring the arts. We’ve listed some options below for art galleries that you should visit. If you are looking for another way to enjoy the arts, take a peek at our blog, which describes more art-related things to do.
